Please be advised that this portfolio utilizes Google Sites and the integration of files that were originally created in Microsoft 365 and stored in Google Drive equivalents to be made accessible here. As there is no way to embed Microsoft Access databases at this time I will not be able to upload these projects to this portfolio. If you would like to see the fully-functioning Access databases, please send me an email at W0420791@nscc.ca.
The first installment of Database is a course that is very heavy on creating, managing, and manipulating computer databases built inside of Microsoft Access. As many libraries and archives use one form or another of a database for their Online Public Access Catalogue and internal systems, it is important to understand how they work, as well as how to create one from scratch and modify pre-existing databases to meet the needs of the institution or organization.
Demonstrate an understanding of basic database creation and manipulation including modifying tables and other aspects of a database.
Demonstrate an understanding of and be able to import and modify information from existing databases and spreadsheets.
Create and run queries and demonstrate an understanding of how to sort records and change the appearance of a database or datasheet.
Create and run forms and reports based on information found in the database.
