Picking up from where the first installment left off, Descriptive Cataloguing II is a course focused on further developing cataloguing skills and teaching the importance of authority control tags and records in organizing and filing MARC records. As the Library of Congress maintains a living record of every person primarily responsible for the creation of a work, the correct authority record must be placed with any catalogued works in the library that are assigned to their record.
Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to use authority control tags to define Library of Congress Authority Records in cataloguing.
Be able to differentiate Authority Records from one another including but not limited to Personal Records versus Corporate or Governmental Records.
Be able to properly identify alternative, varying or preferred forms of a works title and catalogue it according to the RDA rules.
