The primary focus of English Literature was to fill any gaps in High school English and revisit older works by famous authors as well as newer works by world-renowned creators. Covering everything from the breakdown of short stories to poetry and song analysis to reading about how much the world has changed in the last few centuries and its impact on not only creativity but society as a whole. In a library, any member of the staff must have some basic knowledge of works by various authors and different genres in addition to a way to look at the world and people from different points of view, showing biases only as necessary.
Demonstrate an understanding of how to analyze and respond to works with professional language and Modern Language Association citations.
Demonstrate an understanding of how to critically read a work and interpret and extrapolate the author's message based on the context and content given.
Create and participate in meaningful class discussions concerning the assigned works and reflect on how they impact and reflect today's world.
