The first quarter of the Library and Information Technology program served as an introduction and immersion into the world of libraries and the work surrounding them, ranging from the way that their collections are controlled and organized, to the way that their management and employee system is broken down and organized behaviorally.
Each type of library and each institution or organization is run differently to meet the needs of their patrons and goals, and as such, each plays a significantly different role in the field of library work. By understanding the way that these places of learning and information work, it makes it easier to understand why they function in the ways that they do.
