Acquisitions and Circulations Procedures is a course that was developed to teach aspiring Library Technicians and Librarians the basic concepts, practices, procedures, and policies of the inner workings of a library. At the heart of all libraries are the Acquisition staff, as it is their job to bring in new materials and replace old resources when necessary according to circulation procedures.
Circulation on the other hand focuses heavily on keeping a flow of materials moving between the libraries' branches and their patrons, making sure they have access to the collection and are removing books that are lingering on shelves. Because these two departments play such a huge role in the daily work and procedural practices of a library of any time, it was important to understand how exactly they work and why.
