The first half of Descriptive Cataloguing is a course that focuses heavily on teaching the fundamentals and concepts of Cataloguing. The primary idea of this class was to teach the different types of cataloguing, as well as how to do original versus copy cataloguing. While Cataloguing does not play a huge roll in most library work nowadays, it is a valuable asset and skill to have and increases focus on detail and critical reading skills.
Demonstrate an understanding of original cataloguing and following the rules associated with it.
Acknowledge and understand the difference between AACR2R and RDA as styles of cataloguing a resource.
Demonstrate an understanding of the basic cataloguing tags and apply them to resources in practice.
