Art & Christian Worship

by Low Kwang Meng

Walk into an early church building in Turkey or catacomb in Rome, you will see drawings and paintings on the walls. Art has always been a major part of Christian worship and it has tremendous formative power on the worshippers.

From 19-20 Nov 2020, 12 persons participated a 3-day workshop to explore the formative power of Art in Christian worship and its role in Christian witness in different cultures and faith. They also learnt to sketch and paint in the 3 days. Besides lectures on the formative power of Art and its role in Christian witness, they also learnt different pencil sketching techniques, water colour painting techniques, and acrylic painting. Here are some testimonies of their experiences, and the art they produced.
