The New Charis Mission is organising the 6th Edition of Unlabelled Run on 18 May 2024.

Labelling others is common in any society. But the individuals who are unfairly labelled can experience negative consequences such as stigmatization and discrimination. To raise awareness about the harm of these labels, in 2016, The New Charis Mission (TNCM) initiated the “Unlabelled Run”, a 5km fun run and 10km competitive run, to advocate the removal of these harmful labels.

More than just a run, it is a clarion call to Singaporeans that we must unite to build an inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate society. That is why Unlabelled Run advocates the removal of prejudicial labels in our society. The New Charis Mission seeks the creation of a greater awareness of unlabelling via the Unlabelled Movement.

Are you curious about what Christianity is? You want to share the gospel with a friend or family member, but do not know how?

Join us or invite them to the Alpha Course. The Alpha Course is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed environment. It is a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity centred around a talk and small group discussion.

Who is Alpha for?
Anyone can come to the Alpha Course! You don’t need to be a Christian or churchgoer to qualify. We welcome anyone who is interested to know more about the Christian faith, and what God says about life.

What is it?
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that explore the meaning of life. A topic is explored followed by a discussion where you can freely ask questions and share your opinions. It’s fun, relaxed, and totally no pressure.

When?
The course will happen on 13, 20, 27 April; 4, , 25 May 2024 from 10am – 12.30pm.
Alpha Weekend: 11 May 2024, from 10am - 5pm

Have you ever wondered why the pulpit cloth changes colours and has different symbols on it each time it is changed? Do the words “Advent”, “Epiphany” and “Kingdomtime” mean anything to you?

The Liturgical or Church Year is broken into seasons, starting from Advent and ending with Kingdomtide. It is a traditional way to remember and observe the various aspects of the life of Christ and His Church that has been used since the early days of Christianity. Each season has its own colour and symbols that serve as visual mnemonics. 

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which falls 40 days before Easter (excluding Sundays). Some churches observe Ash Wednesday with a special service where the foreheads of the worshippers are marked with a mixture of oil and ashes, and the words, “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return” are spoken by the presiding pastor or priest to remind the congregation of their mortality. Lent is a season of preparation, meditation and prayer, much like Advent. However, unlike Advent, the events anticipated are of a much more solemn nature – the suffering and sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, and the themes of this season are repentance and confession, fasting and self-denial, salvation and spiritual discipline. The season focuses on the life and ministry of the Lord, and His last days in Jerusalem. The liturgical colour is purple, again a symbol of penitence and preparation, but also of the Passion (ie suffering) of the Messiah. The last week of Lent is called Holy Week in many churches, and is marked by Maundy Thursday services commemorating the Last Supper, and sometimes, ritual foot-washing, and the stripping of the altar symbolizing the stripping away of Jesus’ physical vestments and dignity. Good Friday services commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus, and His “seven last words” are usually meditated on. The liturgical colour of Good Friday is black for darkness, forsakenness and death.
