Power cross-feed

Unlike the B2 the C3 has the option for power cross feed, again it has to use the universal joint due to the hidden leadscrew.  It turns a worm which operates on a small gear on the slide rest in front of the handle. An automatic stop is fitted, this can be made to work in either direction. See the C3 Video pagTo use this accessory the saddle casting is swivelled over and the cross-slide shank is inserted at the rear, the slide is then fully supported by resting on the saddle casting.

In a factory production setting one man could tend to a whole row of identical machines, setting the auto stop allowed him to move from machine to machine resetting the feed and mechanism each time and thus no time was wasted standing in front of just one machine waiting to complete a cut.
