PJLW#10 MSR 'Continental'

MSR 'Continental' Prototype

One of the last trains made by MSR was their 0-6-0 Continental style engine. MSR designed 0-6-0 frames that retained the same overall length as the original Mamod SL donor loco. The pistons rods were extended to become centre drivers. The valve events needed to be reworked slightly from the standard setup in order to get the engine running satisfactorily using this arrangement. The overall look of the loco is impressive

PJLW 'Continental' Reproduction

I recreated the MSR Continental in 2014 with the help of Terry Shirley who provided some of the MSR components required. The change in appearance is created with the MSR designed extended cab, roof and vent. The addition of the Wilesco lamp on this model rather than the Lionel type used on the Plantation again adds to the look of the Continental engine. Finished in black and red, the replica turned out well!
