Blue MSS with Red Lining - Special Edition by Dream Steam 2008
This rare MSS model was commissioned by Dream Steam. The blue and red MSS loco and tender was a small trial batch of 5. Back in 2008, Dream Steam was developing the idea of a special edition loco to mark the anniversary of the original Mamod SL loco. It was at this time that MSS produced a run of blue locos, tenders and coaches.
Dream Steam had a small test batch of 5 done with the red lining and 5 done with gold lining in order to see which looked best and what customers reactions would be.
As it turned out the red lined version was not received as well as the gold version and in the end the anniversary edition idea did not proceed, so no more blue and red engines were made. However, the blue and gold proved to be very popular and many of these were supplied via Dream Steam including a full train set with blue coaches.
The Blue and Red lined variant MSS loco is one of the rarest Mamod/MSS loco's to have been sold. Of the 5 made one was modified for a customer to have the red wheels and a spark arrester smoke box. That means that only four now exist and as far as I am aware, this is the last one of this type that has not yet been fired. If you know different, please contact me via the contact form.
