I hadn't intended to get into the Mamod SL range of steam engines! I had previously restored some Mamod stationary engines, but wasn't especially interested in the Steam Loco's. One day whilst in my local town, I called into what was the Warwick Antiques Centre (now a coffee shop). It was here that I spotted a couple of well-used, modified Mamod SL1 steam engines. I was immediately drawn to these as they both looked a bit different to the standard and rather plain looking SL1. The engine that became MARGARET had numerous 'Kenversions' parts fitted to it. The restoration retained all the Kenversions pieces. I also sourced some additional components to further enhance the appearance of the finished model. The loco is fitted with the Mamod standard boiler and is fired using a 4-wick Kenversions spirit burner.
