Here is my Mamodification 0-6-0 special build inspired by the Kerr, Stuart & Co Ltd No. 2451 ‘AXE’, one of the resident locos on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, being jointly owned by all the members of the L&B Trust. She was the first of five Joffre Class locos in the UK to return to operational steam.
My first attempt at building an 0-6-0 configuration resulted in my locomotive called RUTH ANN. I then developed this design a bit further for the build of IRENE. This has resulted in the engine you see here. It has a pleasing look to it and clearly represents a loco 'in the style of' the Joffre Class engine. IRENE and AXE met at an L&B Gala back in September 2014.
IRENE has been very successfully run in steam at numerous L&B Gala events, typically pulling a full rake of Mamod based War Department styled rolling stock.
