I did a lot of needlework cards in 2021.
"N is for Needlework" is done in the "crazy quilt" style.
Two of the flower ATCs show the same pattern (based on folk patterns). But since each was done in a different color schemes, each is unique.
Chain stitch was often used to fill quickly!
Wool crewel yarn on wool felt.
One highly textured acrylic paint.
One... not....
I continued to play with alcohol markers in 2021. Usually animals, but sometimes not.
I joined my first "Found Poetry" swap on January 3, 2021. While the end result is seldom spectacular, this is one of those times when it is the PROCESS that matters!
Zentangle-inspired art = ZIA
True zentangles are square and have very specific patterns and processes. Too rigid for me... plus... um... ATCs are rectangluar...
"Unusual Valentines" was the theme for a 2021 swap, and I think my mosquito cards were definitely original. The four cards had song titles, such as You're the One That I Want. The other two valentines are more traditional. Mulberry paper and mixed media.
The "Word of the Year" swap on ATCs is always fun and meaningful.
The "Take It Off" swap involved making an interactive card.
"January Weird Holidays" was another fun swap on ATCsForAll.com.
I was really proud of my set of cards that combined "Pop Art" and "The Quarantine" and "Keith Haring Style."
Pigma Micron pen on Mulberry paper, with a Stonehenge black frame.
Alcohol marker, on Yupo, of course.
In early 2021, I think I was still calling these cards ZIAs (zentangle-inspired-art) but these are reallly DOODLE CARDS!
A very old and battered copy of Winnie the Pooh became an ATC.
A photo found on the internet looks quite different when drawn with alcohol marker.
More doodle cards. Of particular significance is the Doodle Cats. I've drawn this type of card MANY times, and in 2024 I converted it to a digital file.
Yeti with Confetti, Yeti with Spaghetti, Yeti with Cavalletti, Yeti with Cappelleti. January 2021
These were made for a swap on ATCsForAll.com. I cou ld not recall the theme for the swap, so I looked it up, first in my spreadsheet, then in my journal, then on the ATCsForAll.com website.
Here's the original swap information. I thought it might be fun to include here.

Theme
As I age, I realize my brain is full of completely useless facts and trivia. Do I really need to know that Alfred Hitchcock was afraid of eggs or that the male octopus dies after mating? I think not. Why do I remember that Coca-Cola used to contain small amounts of cocaine or that Starbucks is named after a Moby Dick character?
So, rummage through your brain, and find some trivia that inspires you to create ATCs. Prowl the internet for useless or interesting facts--any subject, anything you remember for no reason or deem interesting. Do a little research into a favorite subject and spread your (potentially useless) knowledge.
One was cut from a larger piece...
Prismacolor on Stonehenge Black watercolor paper. Alcohol maker on Yupo.
At this point, I joined several Christmas swaps.
I really liked the look of Prismacolor red and white and green on Stonehenge Black, so I made a LOT of Father Christmas cards....
(There were even more ... but I decided that nine were enough for this Gallery page!
One of my very favorite swaps on ATCsForAll.com was the Twelve Days of Christmas swap, hosted by Marie.
I joined this swap in 2020 (pocket cards),
2021 (Prismacolor on Black), and 2022.
Usually, swaps are for 3 or 6 cards, but this one was for TWELVE!
I tried to include elements from each card when I made the HOST CARD!
Wow! As much as I love Google Sites, I miss having the ability to jump back and forth within my own site. (If you know HTML: I miss anchor points!)
Here's one of the 12 Days of Christmas from 2020!
Different levels of abstraction!
For this fun swap, I made a cartoon-style card, a fragmented drawing, and a collage card that celebrated the Pinka stories I make for my grandkids.
Two themes I do over and over and over:
elephants (generally from a photo I took at the Henry Doorly Zee) and
cats (These were from a security envelope swap.)
Another swap hosted by Pancake Machine...
with a literary theme.
One December 26th, 2021, I joined my first ATART.
My favorite card was the Dancing Queen!
I made my first "6-Inchie" card."
And I made a pocket card for the daily theme
"All Good Things."
These cards were, technically, made in 2022, since the ATART began in 2021 and ended in 2022.
This was one of my first cards designed with the Cricut.
I received a Cricut Joy cutting machine in November 2021, as a birthday gift. I thought it was a lot of fun to play with, and I designed a lot of cards with "interactive parts." The Christmas tree design shown above had a pocket, and the card inside was two-sided, so that the tree could be changed. I used this concept for several cards in early 2021, but the cards were never popular. Perhaps they look too machine-made?
