I had the very great pleasure of working with twelve artists on July 26.
We did a quick tutorial first, and I took a few pictures of the resulting paintings. Some artists preferred not to have their works photographed. And some lovely paintings just got missed. But this page captures the SPIRIT of the class. For me, it is a great memory!
Acrylic paint is very hard to photograph, because light bounces back from the glossier parts of the painting. My photos do not really do justice to the paintings.
Eventually I hope to so some "fixes" in Procreate. But for now, adding the white border DOES improve the results on these two BLUE paintings:
After the exercise, the artists did paintings of their choice. What great variety!

One artist elected to repeat the tutorial on her 8 x 10 canvas. I think she did a great job!
The color mixes in each stroke of this abstract landscape are just... scruptuous! I wish I could eliminagte the glare! Such a fun technique. I plan to make an "inspired by...." painting some day.
This artist did a great job blending colors. Acrylic can be tricky to blend, since it dries so quickly.
I asked permission to make an "inspired by" painting based on this one. Usually I don't let the canvas show through, but ins this case.... it just WORKS.
I wish I had a copy of the photo upon which this painting is based. It's not yet finished, but this is a great example of knowing what to choose and what to leave out when working from a photo.
The colors in this are just wonderful! I love the variation of tints in those clouds!
I would love to see this one when it is finished. The carefully blended colors on this one remind me of an oil painting.
This artist used a photo on her phone. Another painting that didn 't get finished.. but I would love to see the final product some day!
