BYU-PATHWAY WORLDWIDE
In this module, you will need to complete practice emails for some majors.
You will send these emails to the Trainers through Reach.
Most of your calls and emails in Advising will be reviewed by QA to make sure that we are giving the student the right information and showing that we retrieved that information from the correct articles. There are set standards and information that must be in the email and that QA will be scoring you on. They are:
Authentication
Case Structure
Writing Mechanics
Professionalism
Information Gathered
Information Provided
Responsiveness
Status Updates
Procedures Followed
Our goal while emailing with Students is to be the best help we can be! This includes:
Providing the student with the sufficient information they need to answer their questions and provide them the resources they might need to answer other questions they might have
The more specific and detailed we are when answering the students' questions, the less likely they are to email us back for clarification which means we have more time to help more students.
If the student's initial email is too vague or you can't make sense of their question, you can provide them with the resources you believe could help them but also let them know that they are welcome to email back with a detailed list and explanation of each question or problem they might have and that you are happy to help them
Subject

Greet the student
Thank them for contacting Advising (if this is your first email thread/reply to them)
Same font style and size in the entire email (Times New Roman, number 12)
Only 1 enter space between each new paragraph.
Answer each question the student has in an orderly and informative manner.
Professional and kind tone throughout the email
To maintain consistency and professionalism, it's important to capitalize the first letter of the names of our teams. For instance, rather than saying "peer advisor" it should be written as "Peer Advisor" Similarly, "Advising" should be capitalized instead of "advising". This simple practice enhances clarity and ensures uniformity in our communication.
Always contain your email signature at the end

Marriage and Family studies has been reworked into the Human and Family Services for 2023 catalog year and on. Please check student's catalog year to confirm which degree they have declared.
Applied Technology has split into 2 degrees with Software Development at BYU-Idaho and Information Technology at Ensign for the 2023 catalog year and on. Please check student's catalog year to confirm which degree they have declared.
While they both are technology degrees, Software Development is closest to the old Applied Technology Degree and does a lot more of hands-on work with coding than the IT degree.

Hello Advising,
I am wanting to eventually go into a Nursing career and am wondering if the Applied Health degree would be the best route for me to do before Nursing school. Would it help me get some prerequisite and general courses done?

Hello Advising,
I used to be a student here but had to take a break in school due to life circumstances, and I'm wanting to start up with classes again. I saw on the website that there are certificates/courses that weren't there when I started back in 2021 and I'm much more interested in those new ones. How can I switch my certificate to those?
Best,
Stel

Hello Advising,
I just transferred from another school and I am wanting to register for classes. I don’t see that my transcripts are on my degree though, did none of my credits transfer? If we are still waiting for them to transfer, is there a way for me to see which ones will transfer? I would love to see a list of classes that I can register for in the meantime.
Best,
Erika

Hello Advising,
I just need some guidance on what classes I need to take to graduate. I've finished everything on my Degree Progress Audit, but it says I only have 103/120 credit completed. I would love to be able to graduate by April 2025.
Sincerely,
Nomel

Hello Advising,
I've recently begun my first certificate program, and while I'm enthusiastic about the journey, I've encountered an issue with my class schedule. It seems to be scheduling fewer courses than I had anticipated.
I'm looking forward to your guidance on how to address this matter.
Thank you,
A. Amos

Hello Advising,
I just started the communications degree. I didn't realize it was through Ensign College and not BYU-Idaho.
Is it better to do the degrees through BYU-Idaho? What are the differences between the schools?
Thanks,
Danielle.

Hello Advising,
