In the fall of 2014, following the formal relocation of the Cornerstone Place Shelter to 616 Vaughan Road, City Council requested that city staff, in collaboration with members of the community, develop a list of actions, titled "Oakwood Vaughan Strategy," intended to help "revitalize" the Oakwood-Vaughan neighbourhood. The Oakwood Vaughan Strategy report was completed in late September 2015, and officially approved by City Council on 3 November 2015.
This vote of approval, however, was much more a show of confidence in the ideas expressed within the report than it was a commitment to carry out any of the actions it recommended, many of which had attached to them significant monetary contributions. And, indeed, at the time of writing, most of the proposals in thereport remain entirely rhetorical; a version of the original strategy document, annotated by an OV NAP member with updates on each action item, can be found in this section.
This section is organized by theme: "City of Toronto Documents" contains items published by the City of Toronto, including the original Oakwood Vaughan Strategy report, along with other documents relating to other, concurrently operating City of Toronto neighbourhood revitalization initiatives. The "Annotated Updates from OV NAP" sub-section includes copies of the Oakwood Vaughan Strategy accompanied by notes on the implementation of recommended actions, where applicable; newer annotated versions will be added, if and when appropriate. Finally, "Press Clippings" includes links to journalistic accounts of programs, services, and/or actions related to the city commitments described elsewhere in this section.
