Intervention #1: ADHD Skill Packet
Audience: Client & Caregiver
Diagnosis(es)/Condition(s): ADHD
Age Range/Population: Pediatrics (0-8 yrs)
Purpose: The purpose of the skills packet is to provide children with ADHD a fun, colorful, and engaging format that builds motivation to work on key skills such as problem-solving, routine building, and deep breathing techniques. This intervention uses visual and interactive worksheets to help children develop strategies for managing their ADHD symptoms in a structured and enjoyable way.
Instructions: Use the prompts on each worksheet to answer questions and follow instructions for the given activity.
Rationale & Impact on Function: Using a skills packet allows children with ADHD to gain a better understanding of their symptoms and develop practical coping strategies that promote self-regulation, focus, and task completion. By completing the worksheets, children practice using problem-solving techniques to address challenges they face daily, such as maintaining focus on tasks and building consistent routines. Additionally, incorporating deep breathing exercises helps regulate their emotional responses, making it easier to cope with frustration and anxiety. As a result, children become more capable of engaging in daily occupations (schoolwork, chores, play) in a more organized and efficient manner, leading to enhanced functional independence and participation in various areas such as education, social participation, health management, and leisure.

Instructions: Gather materials that appeal to the sensory stimuli desired by the client including but not limited to fidget spinners, Thera putty, noise-canceling headphones, weighted lap pads, stress balls, sensory gloves, liquid motion timers, and scented oils. Place all items into a compact, to-go bag to place in the car, a backpack, or a purse.
Rationale & Impact on Function: This project will provide the client with a discreet, convenient option to use when placed in situations of overstimulation. This can help clients manage symptoms, stay engage, and be more productive in daily tasks.
