Forearm: functions to orient direction of the hands
Elbow joint: humeroulnar joint (humerus & ulna) and humeroradial joint (humerus & radius)
Proximal radioulnar joint: articulation of the proximal ends of the radius & ulna
Proximal & distal radioulnar joints provide supination & pronation of forearm
Only flexion/extension occur at the elbow - mobility in one plane & significant joint stability
Elbow flexion: 0-150 deg
Elbow extension: 0 deg (hard end feel between the olecranon process (ulnar) and olecranon fossa (humerus)
Supination & pronation - only osteokinematic movements - within the horizontal plane about a vertical axis
Ulna does not rotate - locked in place proximally
Radius moves over the ulna
Forearm ROM = 0-80 deg
