Intervention Idea: Balance Hedgehog Logo Match
Equipment: Balance hedgehog pods, printed hockey team names/logos (laminated or taped).
Set-Up:
Place balance hedgehog pods on the floor with hockey team logos or names taped onto them.
Position client in quadruped over pods.
Activity:
Client uses affected side to grasp and match team names to their correct logos placed on pods.
Encourage crossing midline by arranging pods to require reaching across the body.
Therapeutic Focus:
Fine Motor Skills: Grasping and releasing cards.
Motor Control & Coordination: Using affected side to manipulate items.
Crossing Midline: Reaching across body to match logos.
Sensory & Proprioceptive Input: Weight-bearing through affected upper extremity in quadruped.
Balance & Core Strength: Maintaining quadruped while shifting weight.
Grading Ideas:
Increase/decrease number of pods or distance between them.
Vary surface stability (mat vs. floor).
Use time challenges or add verbal recall of team names.
Directions:
-Align cards in a single row alternating colors.
-While standing, have your patient slide the card with their feet to the correct side sorting colors from black and red.
