The Leap
You jumped into my lap and became an angel,
You left behind a trail of miracles,
Every day I ask why you had to leave,
why you’re not with me where you belong.
I tell myself you’re wanted in other realms,
But I can’t believe anyone needs you more than I do.
You jumped into my lap and become a song,
I play it in my heart every single day, even as the lyrics fade and the memory goes dim.
The music you left behind is becoming more distant as I grow older, and I’d give everything I have to hear it one more time.
You jumped into my lap and became a memory,
Of anger, pain and love,
I play the hallowed recollections again and again and beg for penance,
I never thought this could happen, I never thought you’d be gone.
Time is unforgiving, recollection a curse, and left me in a place where I don’t belong.
You jumped into my lap, and turned into light,
A fluorescent dream that I chased down the length of the train station,
Jumping from beam to beam, always insight and forever out of reach
I ran to the end of the platform and lost you in train’s blinding roar.
You jumped into my lap and then you were gone.
I never took the time to say how much you meant to me,
And how I’ll keep running down that platform,
Through the howling metal wind, chasing after you,
Until I join you in the holy light
