To the Office of the Attorney General of Australia.

Kia ora from New Zealand.

Aotearoa4Assange is a loose affiliation of New Zealanders concerned about the implications of the case of the award-winning Australian journalist Julian Assange : His ongoing detention in Belmarsh maximum security prison in London, U.K. has been deemed by the United Nations Special Racconteur on Torture Nils Melzer to be arbitrary and to amount to torture.  This is an abomination that must not be allowed to continue.

The implications this case has for the ability of our democratic states to be able to govern the excesses of power is absolutely pivotal.

Our civilization is at a precipice and transparency of our state organisations and institutions is vital to our being able to navigate the evolving paradigm.

The Office of the Attorney General has a natural responsibility to encourage the Australian Government to make requests to :

the government of the United States of America , to drop its appeal to the UK government to have Julian Assange extradited  to face charges of espionage

AND

for the United Kingdom to comply with the United Nations rulings and release Julian Assange unconditionally, to ensure his ongoing security , to pay compensation ( as per the U.N. ruling ) and to arrange for safe passage to sanctuary where , if he should choose to do so , continue his valuable work as Editor in Chief of Wikileaks.

The outcome of this case will be your legacy.

Thank you for your attention to this pivotal case.

Naku noa na...
