This course is one in a series of two-one year courses intended to be an introduction to high school level science for struggling learners. Its focus is on learning for success at the high school level. Practical Physical Science studies the basics of physics and chemistry. Chemistry unit topics include measuring with the metric system (SI), physical and chemical properties of matter, atomic structure, element classification, compounds and chemical interactions. The physics units investigate motion, work and machines, heat, sound and light, electricity, and electromagnetism.
