Fundamentals of Science and Engineering Class

This class is intended to be an foundation for high school level science. It studies the basics of physics and chemistry as well as engineering principles. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, measurement, data analysis, and reporting. The chemistry unit topics include physical and chemical properties, atomic structure, element classification and chemical interactions. The physics units investigate the gas laws, radioactivity, forces in fluids, and motion. Engineering and mathematics skills are built into each unit of study. Classroom discussion, lab activities, mathematics, reading, and writing skills are used to explain how physics and chemistry topics relate to each other and to how and why the world works as it does. The basic science concepts developed in this class are considered to be necessary for all persons living in today’s world.

I like the quote from one of my favorite shows, MythBusters. “Remember kids, the only difference between Science and screwing around is writing it down.”
