Join our Policy + Advocacy subcommittee leaders and guest speaker, neonatal advocate extraordinaire Dr. Shetal Shah to discuss "How to Advocate for Infants Today: Protecting Medicaid and Beyond." Hear advice from these leaders on how to help protect the insurance that allows us to help and treat so many of our patients and families.

Dr. Swenson, spearheaded a one page primer on why we need to oppose Medicaid funding cuts. Send a message to leaders in congress or connect 5calls.org if you have the ability to call. Thanks for all you do!

What Worked in our new Works in Progress Collaboration

We had a wonderfully successful initial collaboration between the NJC Research and QI subcommittees for the February 5th Works In Progress session focusing on Equity-Focused Quality Improvement (EF-QI).

A total of 32 attendees listened to Drs. Kelsey Carrigan and Sarah Swenson discuss “The rising tides lifted which boats? Using EF-QI tools to assess routine mental health screening for NICU parents.” We were also amazing by the depth and breadth of “The Sisterhood Project: Leveraging Every Step of Community-Partnered QI to Improve Systems and Birth Equity for Black families in LA county,” presented by student trainees Pearl Omo-Sowho and Cynthia Fok.

Join our next session on May 6, 2025 2:30-4p EST will be on “Equity and Safe Sleep for Infants in Illinois” presented by neonatologist Dr. Leslie Caldarelli and “Mitigating Unplanned Extubation Disparities” presented by neonatologist Dr. Liz Bonachea.
