Dr. Meg Barcroft, a dual fellow in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine and Quality & Safety Leadership at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, presented her work in progress at the Research Subcommittee meeting December 6, on "Validating infant demographics within a regional NICU Network: An equity-focused quality improvement initiative."

As a crucial first step to assess local clinical outcomes, her work looks at improving local demographic information to evaluate local inequities and inform local improvement efforts to combat infant mortality disparities. Her baseline work found a large proportion had infant race as Guardian Unavailable to Answer (GUA). Her presentation outlining successes and challenges encountered along the journey towards improving the assessment and documentation of infant demographic engaged over 30 attendees.
