Med Ed & Mentoring

Speaker Series

We are excited to host our next NJC Med Education & Mentoring Speaker Series on Friday, March 15th at 2pm EST, 1pm CST, featuring Dr. Shamita Punjabi, Clinical Assistant Professor, Dept of Pediatrics, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. Dr. Punjabi will be sharing with us her work entitled, “Development of a Multi-Site, Action-Based Curriculum for Inequities in Newborn Care Informed by Pediatric Resident and Community Engagement.”

Dr. Shamita Punjabi works at Stanford Medicine Children's Health, working as neonatal hospitalist in the Level 2 Nursery and pediatric hospitalist at Stanford-affiliated community sites. Dr. Punjabi has worked alongside her colleagues in the newborn units to develop a grant-funded action-based health equity curriculum for trainees which has been recognized and shared across pediatrics institutions nationally. This curriculum was developed in conjunction with 3 Northern California Pediatric residency programs and the expert input of community partners from 3 patient-centered organizations. Dr. Punjabi looks forward to sharing the highlight of this curriculum with the NJC: an action-based health equity tool used in the clinical setting, which can be utilized widely across multi-disciplinary teams and all levels of training
