January 2025
Kick off 2025 right by joining NJC for our first General Body Meeting, Threats to Neonatal Justice Work: Processing and Strategizing on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, 11a-12p PST /2-3p EST. We will learn from two NJC senior leaders and nationally renowned neonatal health advocates Dr. Liz Bonachea and Dr. Valencia Walker. We will appreciate how these leaders are responding to and processing the current environment for neonatal health equity. Then we will break out to smaller groups, to discuss and hold community and learn from each others experiences.
Join the NJC Policy and Advocacy committee as they host Dr. Joseph Wright at their next meeting on Thursday, January 23rd, 2:30-3:30p PST /5:30-6:30p EST. Joseph L. Wright, MD, MPH was appointed last year as the Chief Health Equity Officer and Senior Vice President for Equity Initiatives of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He spent more than two decades in leadership at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC where he provided strategic direction for the organization’s advocacy mission, public policy positions, and community partnership initiatives while also serving 17 years as the inaugural State Pediatric Medical Director within the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems. Dr. Wright maintains appointments as adjunct professor of emergency medicine and health policy at George Washington University, and teaches as professor of health policy and management at the University of Maryland School of Public Health.
