Problem
The computer receives an automatic private IP address instead of a valid network address, indicating it couldn't reach a DHCP server.
Symptoms

No internet or network access.
"Limited connectivity" or "No internet, secured" message.
Possible Causes
DHCP server unreachable or down.
Network cable or Wi-Fi connection issue preventing DHCP communication.
Router DHCP service disabled.
Network adapter configuration error.
Resolution
Step 1
Restart the computer and router.
Step 2
Check that the network cable or Wi-Fi connection is active.
Step 3
Run ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew in Command Prompt.
Step 4
Verify DHCP is enabled on the router.
Step 5
Restart the network adapter.
Step 6
Manually assign a static IP temporarily to confirm network hardware is otherwise functional.
Prevention
Ensure the router's DHCP service stays enabled.
Keep network cables and connections secure.
Restart networking equipment periodically.
