Population Case Study - Japan/Tokyo

Task 1.

• Open up Google Maps and search for Japan. Take a few moments to look at the Geographical features - landforms, relief (shape of the land), settlement areas, cities. Where do people live? Coastal? Inland?

• Search for Tokyo - the capital city of Japan. Zoom into the CBD (the busiest part of the city - usually near the centre). What do the buildings look like? Where are the green spaces? Use the 3D option or the blue man to look up and down some of the streets.

• Search for the Shibuya Crossing and some of the other places mentioned in Figure 1 (above). 

• Write 10 adjectives (describing words) to describe Tokyo in your books.

Answer the following questions which are a mix of knowledge and skills based questions. Answer all questions in your books in full sentences. There are some videos below to help you with area and grid references, if you need a reminder.
