MTI Trade Scholarship
Stanley Black & Decker established this award for the Maryland Tech Invitational (MTI) to assist individuals who plan to attend a two-year college or vocational-technical school and who are pursuing a trade degree/certificate in an industry aligned with the Stanley Black & Decker Trade Goals – including but are not limited to Construction, Industrial, Motor/Power Sector, Mechanics, and Technology.
This scholarship is open to Juniors and Seniors who are on FTC or FRC teams in Maryland, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Virginia for the 2023/2024 FIRST season.
The application period begins January 7, 2024 and ends on March 17, 2024

Eligibility
Applicants of the Stanley Black & Decker MTI Trade Scholarship award must:
Be a student graduating high school in 2024 or 2025;
Be a current member of a Maryland, Pennsylvania, District of Columbia or Virginia FIRST Tech Challenge team or a FIRST Robotics team competing in the 2023/2024 season;
Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the 2024/2025 or the 2025/2026 academic year;
Plan to major in a trade construction, industrial, motor/power sector, mechanics, or technology degree/certificate, which includes but are not limited to the following fields:
Aerospace Technology
Automotive Technology
Aviation Technology
Carpentry
Construction
Diesel Technology
Electrical Technology
Fire Science
Heavy Equipment Operation
HVAC
Machinery
Manufacturing
Pipefitting
Plumbing
Welding
Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) for high school classes.
Individuals pursuing degrees/certificates in service industries such as culinary arts, cosmetology, or hospitality are ineligble.
Employees of and dependent children of Stanley Black & Decker employees and its affiliates are ineligible.

One $2,500 grant will be awarded.
Notification:
The awardee will be notified before May 1, 2024
Payment of Scholarships:
Rockville Robotics Inc. and the TechAction Foundation will process scholarship payments on behalf of Stanley Black & Decker. Payments will be made no later than the start of the student’s academic year.
Criteria for selection will be made are on the basis of:
A Mentor recommendation including answering the question “How did the student’s individual contribution to the team benefit their FTC/FRC team as a whole?” The recommendation must be no more than 300 words, double-spaced. Use this portal to submit it: Mentor Recommendation

A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
Additionally, Mentors must submit their recommendation using the Mentor Recommendation Portal
