Reflection

As I continue to pursue my doctoral degree and travel in this educational path, I have experienced collaborating and exploring significant research and information with my professor and fellow doctoral students. This experience eventually led to publishing an academic journal and a book that focused primarily on socio-cultural awareness, digital literacy, virtual/web-based learning, social movements, equity, and empowerment . We have also started a student and faculty endowment called the Borderland SocioCultural Foundations of Ed. Research Initiative (BSCFERI), an organization that aims to fundraise and provide scholarships to students in the Teaching, Learning, and Culture (TLC) Ph.D. program at the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP). These experiences have influenced and deepened my understanding of student learning and the impact of different factors in delivering meaningful improvements on teaching and learning.
