Demonstrate cultural competency when communicating with students, parents and colleagues and interact with them as co-collaborators in student learning

Reflection

As a socio-cultural, innovative, and digital literacy educator, I have always advocated for the meaningful integration of cultural competency in every unit, lesson, and activity for students. For this reason, I have made it a top priority to provide appropriate and effective interaction, collaboration, and engagement among my students, who are mostly teachers and campus leaders. I model to them how they can use the Active Learning Framework as a tool and vehicle to promote mindfulness of social and emotional well-being of their learners, to include providing different opportunities for students to express and use their voices to demonstrate their unique learning experiences. The Active Learning Pop Up Classrooms has been my way of explaining how to design learning experiences that recognize and acknowledge cultural identities as a detrimental part of authentic and real-world learning, as shown in this artifact.
