I have included a confirmation email and information obtaining my role and responsibility in the Minneapolis Job Fair as a district recruiter.
My role in this experience was a leader as a district recruiter. I worked all day at the District 196 booth recruiting teachers, interviewing teachers, and teaching teachers about District 196.
This experience aligns with K-12 Leadership competency because I demonstrated the understanding of different organizational systems and structures at pre-K, elementary, middle or junior high and high school levels.
As a future principal, I learned that within a big district there are common attributes that we are looking for in our teachers across buildings and grade levels. I also learned that it is important as a leader to demand high expecations of the people you wish to hire. It is important to understand developmental needs of all students. I also learned that inorder to recruit phenomenal teachers, your system has to speak to brilliance as well.
I included a list of artifacts and learning ideas that could be used with new teachers in support to estabilishing a learning community. I. was asked to create something for Scott Highland Middle School, but is a resource that can be used district wide.
My role in this experience was the creator.
This experience aligns with K-12 Leadership competency beacuse I demonstrated the ability to work with parents, teachers and other staff in all levels of schooling.
As a future principal, I learned that it is important to create a strategic plan to support and teach your new teachers as you bring forth your values and vision for the school community. It is important to use research and resources that support your vision for your school community.
I have included two videos that were used on different parent nights to recruit and inform our families around school choice within district 196. I have also included a screen shot of the online application for the elementary magnet schools.
My role in this expereince was a leader and facilitator. I was a guide on the side for each presentation as well as answered questions and helped families with the online application.
This experience aligns with K-12 Leadership competency because I demonstrated the understanding of the characteristics of effective transitions from one level of schooling to the next.
As a future principal, I learned that it is important to create multiple opportunites to work with parents. School choice is very important and we have to create opportunities to connect with our communities to teach and inform them on what is available to them. I also learned that there are barriers that can be broken and providing the same information in different languages, and different nights to help families apple broke the barrier for many.
