I have included an outline of the day from the building principal.
My role in this experience was a leader.
It aligns with the leadership competency beacuse I modeled shared leadership and decision-making strategies.
As a future principal, I learned that your day will not run off of a pre-planned schedule. That there are always going to be people that think they need your help. This day reminded me of the importance of establishing protocol, connection with students during tough times of the day, and truly the beauty in shared leadership. It also made me think about what is a need and how do you keep those needs priority even when a handful of things are being thrown at you every minutes. Lastly, being seen is cruicial to maintaining a respectful community.
I included an email invite I sent out to all staff following the end of our after school program for the school year.
My role in this experience was the leader.
I wanted to create an opportunity to thank every one for their part they played in making our system effective: creating Child Learning Plans (CLPS) and getting them signed, volunteering to teach a class, and/or helping communicate to families and getting students to the right class each session.
I also creating an opportunitiy for staff voice inorder to grow our program. I asked them for suggestions and new ideas.
It aligns with the leadership competency because I demonstrated the ability to facilitate and motivate others.
As a future princpal, I learned that you have to care for your people and appreciat them. I also have to give them different avenues to have a voice. This is a program that has so much potential, but without the teachers it is nothing. This was a great opportunity for teachers to feel appreciated and hopefully motivated to continue to build their program.
I included a list of artifacts and learning ideas that could be used with new teachers in support to estabilishing a learning community. I. was asked to create something for Scott Highland Middle School, but is a resource that can be used district wide.
My role in this experience was the creator.
It aligns with the leadership competency beacuse I demonstrated leadership by providing purpose and direction for individuals and groups.
As a future principal, I learned that it is important to create a strategic plan to support and teach your new teachers as you bring forth your values and vision for the school community. It is important to continue to improve culture and climate of the building by being a motion leader which will cause positive movement.
