Plant animals, also known as plantimals, are animals mixed or formed from plants, either by casting a specific spell to turn a plant into an animal or a plantimorph and an animal reproducing. Plant-animals are typically used for gardens, emotional support, or as guards.
Plant animals don't need to eat or sleep, this is because they get all their energy from water and the Sun. Any food they eat is typically just because they like the taste, and this food "photosynthesizes" out of their system (which typically means they need to regurgitate any excess waste in them). They however can get hurt and feel tired - which is why they need to be in the Sun as their wounds heal from it. Plant animals also naturally make people feel happier/healthier.
Plant animals can look and be treated differently depending on how they were formed. The spell used to turn plants into beings usually turns them into more familiar or beast-like animals, and they are used like guard dogs, as a sort of food source (for plant animals with leaves or fruits/vegetables on their bodies), or as emotional support animals. Plant animals who are the offspring of a plantimorph and animal are as anthropomorphic and intelligent as any other animal. Usually, plant-animals formed by spells are called plantimals while those who are plantimorph-animal hybrids are just called their plant and their species (e.g. tangerine cat or dogwood dog) to distinguish the two. Normal plant animals are still often treated weirdly or infantilized.
Plant animals are also often infertile because, while animals and plantimorphs can have children together, there's such a big difference in species that their offsprings bodies don't work the same way.
Plant-animals are a little cannibalistic, as they will probably eat the plant they were/are at some point.
When a plant is cast with the spell at a certain period of its growth, for example, if a strawberry got the plantimal spell cast on it when it was still a flower, it will stay in that stage even when its a full animal.
