Luke 20:37-38
The Living God
37 But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ 38 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”
Luke 24:4-8
The Dead Among the Living
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.
Jesus makes it clear that God is not a God of the dead, but a God of the living...God is alive, and His Son is alive...When Jesus died He had to rise, if God is our God of the Living...Jesus had to live again, if He was going to be with God...The resurrection is the most important fact in the history of mankind...Without Jesus' resurrection Christianity would not be the same, and maybe Christianity would not even be a religion...Jesus raising on the third day after His death makes Christianity different from all the other religions...Who else has a Resurrected Man as the Center of their Religion?...Jesus' resurrection gives all Christians of hope and that God has power over death...Death is not the final word...The resurrection verifies that our God is a God of the Living and not of the dead...
