Luke 21:1-4
The Widow's Offering
1 As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
Most people define people by what they own, or what they currently do (by job), or what they say, or what they have accomplished...
When Jesus looks at us he looks into our hearts...He defines us from within...He looks for our faith...He looks for what we believe and believe in...He does not look at one's total wealth or material things accumulated...
Jesus knew what was in the widow's heart and what she owned...Jesus says she (this widow) has done more than all the others...
Jesus teaches giving from our hearts is better than giving from one's wealth...
