John 14:1-27 (KJV)
God Sends Us the Holy Spirit, in the Name of Jesus
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Revelation 21:5
Jesus Makes All Things New
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Luke 21:33
Jesus Words and Teachings Will Never Pass Away
33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
For me, what St. John writes in these verses (and others), point to the Divinity of Jesus...He tells His Disciples and us, let not our hearts be troubled: let us believe in God, and believe also in Him...Jesus said I AM Truth, the Way, and the Life...He adds that no one gets to the Father, except through Him...And He adds later that the Father dwells in Him...
Truth is an independent concept in the terms of my thoughts, your thoughts, or anyone else's thoughts...Truth, and Absolute Truth just happens to be independent of man...And since Truth is independent of man, and does not pertain to any one particular man...Yet, One Man called Himself Truth...So this makes this Man different...
Jesus spoke to others, but all He said was a reflection of His Father, and of Him...What He spoke is called the good news...What Jesus spoke is called the gospel...What He spoke and did in His ministry turned into a new religion, two thousand years ago...So a Man became a religion...Christianity is learned by learning more, studying, and finding information about a Man named Jesus...Christianity is passed from generation from others to the younger generation, and by reading the Bible, especially the New Testament, and specially the four Gospels of Jesus...
So, Jesus the Person is somehow a belief, and a religion that we call Christianity...Christianity is two thousand years old...So, Jesus is a faith, a religion...Yet, Jesus, Himself was a Man...Yet, Jesus is the gospel...He is the Good News for the world...The gospel are the words in the four gospels...Yet the gospel of Jesus is much more than words...The Gospel Words written are Jesus...The Gospel of Jesus is who He is, and what He did while He was on earth...They are His Teachings...No Words or Teachings have been so full of life...No Man has ever been so full of life...No man has ever lived His life abundantly, because God was the priority in His life, and His complete life...Jesus and God are One...The Father dwells in Him...Jesus told His Disciples that those who have seen Him, have also seen God...God sent Jesus to dwell among us to show us and tell us more about Him, and so that we might understand our Living God better...By Jesus coming to dwell among us, allows us to know God better...We better understood why He said that if a man loves Him, He will keep His words and what He said: and His Father will LOVE him, and Jesus and God will come unto that believer, and They will live with that follower...We better understand God because of His Son...We better understand Jesus' claiming these things about Himself and God by believing that God wants us to understand Him better through His Son...We better understand the Holy Spirit, because of this Person...And we better understand, why He would say "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you."...
Jesus makes all things new...And His words will never pass, because He is the same yesterday, today, and forever...The Gospel is never outdated...The Gospel is forever new and will never grow old and pass away...Jesus is forever new, never outdated, and His Words and Himself will never pass away...
