Luke 22:24-30
On Serving Others
24 A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26 But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. 28 You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29 And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, 30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Luke 13:28-30
The Last Will Be First
28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”
Jesus was very creative and very natural and handled each situation He was in very commonly as the circumstances dictated...He was our Humble Servant who was and is secretly much wiser than any master...And through His humbleness, He became our Master and our Savior...He surrendered to God and His Will and saved us from our sins...
Jesus taught us to be servants like Him and not try or desire to be one of the greatest to lord over people...As one reads the gospels, we see He never tried to lord over anyone, even though He certainly could have...But instead, He teaches us to content with being last, knowing that the last will be first and the first will be last...
So as we read the four gospels, we see Jesus was the Greatest Theologian to ever walk the earth...And in His teachings and His theology and being the Good Doctor HE is, He carried doses of LOVE, grace, Truth, forgiveness, kindness, and mercy...Let us be like this Humble Servant and take with us each day these doses of love, grace, forgiveness, kindness, and mercy to those we meet...
