Matthew 7:13-14
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

The Path in This Life

Saul's Search for People Belonging to the Way
1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
When I first read in John's Gospel that Jesus was the Way, I really did not quite understand what He meant...How was He the Way and what is the Way, He was talking about?...
Following Jesus' Word and His teachings, to me, are a Way of Life...His teachings are a path for us to follow...
For me to try to describe the Jesus Way, I would start by saying it is not the Way of ease and comfort in life...I think as He traveled around and taught in the different towns and villages, I do not think His topics that He taught and talked about were about a comfort or ease in life...His Way is not the Way of following those who are rich and the wealthy...He never followed anyone famous or someone of celebrity...He never really followed anyone on earth...He never did those type of things...He did things God’s Way...He followed God's Will...God’s Way is the Jesus Way...His teachings are thus God’s teachings...
Before Jesus even went to the cross, we find Him in agony in the Garden of Gethsemane...And even though Jesus prayed for an alternative way other than God's Plan, God would do it His Way...And so Jesus died...God could have at the time of His Son’s resurrection -could have ridden our world forever of death...Jesus could have destroyed death from the earthly world...But God did not dispense with death..God continued with an earthly physical death and all its grief that it brings us...But after Jesus' death God resurrects His Son from it...So while the grief of death remains with us, something new was brought into history and into life...The Jesus Way, the Way of God was not about taking away death, or the pain, the suffering from us that surrounds death; but it’s about God providing us with Someone who gives us faith and hope about not only death, but eternal life...And from that faith in His Son, we find a strength, a Truth, a meaning, with abundant life...And not only this Life, but our next resurrected Life, which is eternal life...So among this earthly death, among our pain, among our suffering, there stands faith...Faith stands with Truth...Without Jesus this world which does give us death, pain, and sufferings are this unexplainable riddle...Another miracle happened around Him, He was returned to life by His Father...Because now that He has resurrected, there He stands now living holding the meaning and purpose of Life...I do not believe it can be explained in no other Way...
