Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officers form the LSPS's specialist response to terrorist incidents and exceptionally violent crime.
We solve particularly sensitive and high-risk assignments that place strict demands on thorough preparation, dynamic and quick reactions, high precision and boldness.
Great demands are placed on your individual ability, in addition to your co-operation with the wider team.
The major organised crime unit (MOCU) will aim to allow for a rapid intervention in gang wars and major incidents through the use of statistics, tactics, Judiciary intervention and warrants. The primary aim of the MOCU will be to gain evidence while the war is happening to allow for us to follow the event up with arrests and seizures. They will do this through giving Firearms officers training in evidence gathering, warrant writing, operational planning as well as trying to build rapport with the judiciary.

As an operational firearms commander, you are the commander at the scene. It is your responsibility to coordinate a quick and effective response to anything that arises as well as make sure that the TFC is aware of what's going on and can assign other units where it is required. To do this effectively you should have superior knowledge of policy, power, legislation as well as how to utilize specialist tactics and units to achieve an overall goal.
Prioritise, manage and review the deployment of resources in relation to the strategic aims and tactical parameters of a firearms operation in accordance with a command structure.
Develop, assess and approve tactical plans and deployment strategies to deploy appropriate resources considering the context of the operation.
Apply the NDM (National Decision Making Model), demonstrating the ability to evaluate all information to enable an appropriate DRA (Dynamic Risk Assessment).
Close Protection Officers provide close protection for high-ranking public officials, officers and other individuals deemed to have a serious enough threat to their safety that the presence of armed protection is warranted.
Generally you will work in a team of 2 to 3 Close Protection Officers ensuring principals are kept safe and able to continue their day to day tasks with minimal impact to them.
