Although the role of a sergeant will vary from department to department through the Los Santos Police Service a Seargent will be in charge of officers of a lower rank and it will be their responsibility to take charge of these officers and ensure that their work product is of a high enough standard.
An LSPS Sergeant should:
Offer guidance to police officers under their command
Know legislation relevant to their unit
Support, encourage, and promote officer development
Ensure members of police under their command are meeting standards
Be approachable to those under their command
Follow chain of command or police complaint procedure to report issues
How might they do this? :
Spot checks of officers PNC;
Checking an officers incident reports;
Patrolling with an officer to ensure they still follow all required policies and procedures.
In addition to this sergeants may be required to lead small teams of officers in operations such as at cordons
