26.0019 – Connor Fields Signed Factory Misprint Jersey
This unique factory misprint jersey represents an unexpected intersection between production error, personal history, and Olympic-level BMX achievement.
Associated with Connor Fields, the jersey features a printing error from the early 2000s—reportedly produced around 2003–2004—making it a rare example of how even factory-level gear can carry unintended variations.
What elevates this piece beyond a simple misprint is its personal connection to Harry Leary. According to Fields, after sharing the jersey publicly, Leary recalled seeing him wear it as a young rider. That recognition led Fields to send the jersey directly to Leary, transforming it from a production anomaly into a meaningful exchange between generations of BMX.
Fields would later go on to make history by winning the first Olympic gold medal for the United States in BMX racing at the 2016 Rio Games, cementing his place among the sport’s all-time greats.
This jersey stands as a rare artifact where error becomes identity—linking a future Olympic champion’s early career to one of BMX’s foundational figures, and illustrating how stories in BMX often travel through people, not just podiums.
Learning Note – Errors, Identity, and BMX Storytelling
Not all important artifacts are perfect - some gain significance because of their imperfections. Misprints and production errors, like this jersey, reveal the human side of BMX manufacturing and team culture. When paired with personal stories and rider connections, these “mistakes” often become some of the most meaningful pieces in an archive. In BMX, value is not defined solely by performance or podiums, but by the relationships, memories, and moments attached to each item.
