Welcome to my website. My name is Dawn. I am someone who learns, survives, and creates through depth rather than surface. My life and work sit at the intersection of psychology, creativity, symbolism, and lived experience. I am not interested in neat answers or quick fixes; I am interested in process - how people adapt, how they endure, and how meaning is built when life does not follow a straight line.
Much of my writing here explores the inner landscape: emotional regulation, displaced anger, grief, identity, and the quiet but powerful work of self awareness. I am drawn to psychological insight not as theory alone, but as something embodied and lived. I write about mental health from the inside out, focusing on understanding emotional responses rather than suppressing them, and on learning how to respond consciously instead of repeating unconscious patterns.
Creativity is not optional for me; it is a form of regulation, grounding, and healing. I also have a deep relationship with craft - particularly jewellery making and beadwork - not only as an art form but as a therapeutic practice. The repetitive, tactile nature of working with beads offers focus, calm, and a way back into the present moment. Craft, for me, is both a discipline and a refuge, a way of mastering something tangible while navigating internal complexity.
I am especially interested in how creativity supports mental health and wellbeing. My writing reflects a belief that art and making are not indulgences but essential tools for resilience, self esteem, and emotional expression. Whether through crafting, writing, or symbolic thinking, I return again and again to the idea that we heal by doing, not just by thinking.
Symbolism runs through everything I create. I process experience through metaphor, archetypes, and imagery - seeing patterns where others might see fragments. I am drawn to archetypal figures such as the Mother, the Warrior, the Mystic, and the Wise Woman, not as abstract ideas but as lived states that people move through across a lifetime. These symbolic frameworks help me make sense of change, strength, vulnerability, and transformation.
My writing is often raw, poetic, and unfiltered because that is how truth arrives for me. I write in moments of clarity and moments of grief, tracking the movement between inner worlds and the external one. I believe that self understanding is not linear, and that growth often looks like returning to the same questions with deeper awareness rather than finding final answers.
At my core, I value authenticity, autonomy, and emotional honesty. I am not interested in conforming to narratives that erase complexity or silence discomfort. Instead, I aim to illuminate what is often hidden, showing that strength and vulnerability are not opposites, but partners in a meaningful life.
