Following a long and brutal war against a vanished enemy, the remaining people of Frauji look beyond the horizon to find a new home on the neighboring planet of Yima. One boy named Mahdi, his sister Sheanna, and their adoptive non-human father Uccee struggle to continue existing in their polluted and war-torn home. As winter comes, the family is split apart across the land. Unaware of each other's situation, Mahdi finds himself living among raiders led by a mysterious man in a wolf mask, while Sheanna becomes honorary captain to the neo-militia known as the Blackguard. The siblings try to find each other and leave for the new planet, unaware of the danger they have become to one another.
