Το Lexicon Theologicum αποτελεί μια πολύγλωσση ψηφιακή πλατφόρμα που εστιάζει στην απόδοση της θεολογικής ορολογίας σε οκτώ ξένες γλώσσες. Το έργο αποτελεί πνευματική δημιουργία που υλοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο των ερευνητικών δράσεων του Εργαστηρίου «Εκκλησία και Πολιτισμός. Η πατερική σκέψη για τη σχέση εκκλησιαστικής παράδοσης και πολιτιστικών προκλήσεων ως παράγοντες ειρηνικής συνύπαρξης και συνοχής» (https://eccu-peace.theol.uoa.gr/) του Τμήματος Θεολογίας της Θεολογικής Σχολής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (Ε.Κ.Π.Α.).
Η προσπάθεια αυτή λειτουργεί ως μια διεθνής γλωσσική γέφυρα, συνδέοντας την πατερική γραμματεία με την παγκόσμια ακαδημαϊκή κοινότητα μέσα από την επιστημονική τεκμηρίωση όρων, την αξιοποίηση ψηφιακών εργαλείων και την προώθηση του διαχριστιανικού και διαθρησκειακού διαλόγου. Μέσω του πολύγλωσσου χαρακτήρα του, το Λεξικό καταρρίπτει τα γλωσσικά εμπόδια και καθιστά τον πλούτο της ορθόδοξης θεολογίας προσβάσιμο σε ένα παγκόσμιο κοινό, υπηρετώντας με συνέπεια την εξωστρέφεια της ελληνικής θεολογικής παιδείας.

Lexicon Theologicum is a multilingual digital platform focusing on the rendering of theological terminology into eight foreign languages. The project constitutes an intellectual creation implemented within the framework of the research activities of the Laboratory "Church and Culture: Patristic Thought on the Relationship between Ecclesiastical Tradition and Cultural Challenges as Factors of Peaceful Coexistence and Cohesion" (https://eccu-peace.theol.uoa.gr/) of the Department of Theology, School of Theology, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
This endeavor serves as an international linguistic bridge, connecting Patristic literature with the global academic community through the scientific documentation of terms, the application of digital tools, and the promotion of inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue. Through its multilingual character, the Lexicon breaks down language barriers and makes the richness of Orthodox theology accessible to a global audience, consistently serving the outward-looking orientation of Greek theological education.

Οι βασικοί όροι της θεολογίας σε οκτώ γλώσσες—ελληνικά, αγγλικά, γαλλικά, γερμανικά, ιταλικά, ισπανικά, πορτογαλικά και ρωσικά—συγκρίνονται συστηματικά στο παρόν Πολυγλωσσικό Λεξικό Θεολογικών Όρων. Στόχος του είναι να προσφέρει ένα εργαλείο που διευκολύνει την ακαδημαϊκή αναφορά, την διεπιστημονική ανάλυση και την ακαδημαϊκή μελέτη σε παγκόσμιο πλαίσιο. Το λεξικό τονίζει τη συνέχεια της ελληνικής θεολογικής παράδοσης και τη μετάδοσή της στις σύγχρονες γλώσσες, ενώ παράλληλα επισημαίνει τις ομοιότητες και τις διαφορές στη θεολογική γλώσσα, παρουσιάζοντας τους όρους σε διάφορα γλωσσικά περιβάλλοντα.

The basic terms of theology in eight languages — Greek, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian — are systematically compared in the current Multilingual Dictionary of Theological Terminology. Its goal is to offer a tool that makes scholarly reference, interdisciplinary analysis, and academic study easier in a global setting. The dictionary emphasizes the continuity of the Greek theological tradition and its transmission into contemporary languages, while also highlighting the similarities and differences in theological language by presenting the terms in various linguistic contexts.

Les termes fondamentaux de la théologie en huit langues — grec, anglais, français, allemand, italien, espagnol, portugais et russe — sont systématiquement comparés dans le présent Dictionnaire Multilingue de Terminologie Théologique. Son objectif est d’offrir un outil qui facilite la référence scientifique, l’analyse interdisciplinaire et l’étude académique dans un contexte mondial. Le dictionnaire met en évidence la continuité de la tradition théologique grecque et sa transmission dans les langues contemporaines, tout en soulignant les similitudes et les différences dans le langage théologique à travers la présentation des termes dans divers contextes linguistiques.

Die grundlegenden Begriffe der Theologie in acht Sprachen — Griechisch, Englisch, Französisch, Deutsch, Italienisch, Spanisch, Portugiesisch und Russisch — werden im vorliegenden Multilingualen Wörterbuch der Theologischen Terminologie systematisch verglichen. Sein Ziel ist es, ein Hilfsmittel bereitzustellen, das die wissenschaftliche Referenz, die interdisziplinäre Analyse und das akademische Studium in einem globalen Kontext erleichtert. Das Wörterbuch hebt die Kontinuität der griechischen theologischen Tradition und ihre Weitergabe in die modernen Sprachen hervor und betont gleichzeitig die Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede in der theologischen Sprache durch die Darstellung der Begriffe in verschiedenen sprachlichen Kontexten.
