Gyms are one of the most important aspects of Torn’s training system, helping you increase your stats and become a stronger player. There are three main tiers of gyms, plus several specialist gyms that you can unlock later in the game. Understanding how to train efficiently will help you maximize gains and progress faster.
There are three gym tiers:
Lightweight Gyms (Starting gyms)
Middleweight Gyms (Intermediate gyms)
Heavyweight Gyms (Advanced gyms)
Each tier consists of eight gyms, with each gym specializing in one or two stats. As you train, you’ll gain Gym XP, which allows you to unlock the next gym by purchasing a membership. Generally, it’s best to unlock the next gym as soon as it becomes available, since the new gym will provide better gains.
When starting in Premier Fitness, your first gym, you can train any of the four stats (Strength, Speed, Defense, Dexterity) since this gym offers equal gains for each. However, once you unlock your second gym, you should only train the best stat in each gym to maximize your efficiency.
Each gym specializes in certain stats. You can see which stat is best for a given gym by looking at the bars in your gym selection.
A more accurate way to compare gym stats is by using external resources:

Most players follow one of two strategies:
Train only the top stat in each gym for maximum efficiency
Train the top two stats in each gym for a slightly more balanced approach
Either strategy will lead to fairly balanced stats by the time you finish the middleweight gyms, which is ideal for most builds.
Beyond the main gym tiers, there are also specialist gyms you can unlock later in the game. These gyms have specific stat benefits and requirements.
One unique gym available early on is Crims Gym, which can only be accessed while in jail. This gym has better Defense gains than any of the lightweight gyms, but it is not recommended for training other stats or for use once you unlock middleweight gyms.
Once you reach heavyweight gyms, after significant training, you can start specializing your build based on your combat style. Until then, your focus should be on:
Unlocking gyms as soon as possible
Training the best stat in each gym for maximum gains
Balancing your stats through final gyms in each tier
By following these strategies, you’ll be on your way to becoming a powerhouse in Torn. Stay disciplined, train smart, and dominate the game!
