âWe donât do things the safe way. We do them the fun way. And then we improve it.â
             â Gnome
The Gnomes, also known as Hoblen in their tongue, are one of, if not the smallest, races on the two continents of Keleva. Sharing many similarities with the dwarves, though most are thinner and much worse at feats of strength or endurance. Typically, they're compared more to the elves rather than humans, mainly due to their pointed, albeit thick, ears and proficiency at learning. Just like their dwarven cousins had, they live underground in shallow warrens connected by tunnels, rarely going above ground as a way to protect themselves from the men and monsters above.
Life expectancy: 90 years

Physically, Hoblen are often identified by their large, droopy eyes, round noses, and especially their small stature. Their skin tones are similar to most humans, as well as the colours of their hair; you could even say they resemble small humans entirely.Â
As Gnomes are born with only half a soul, scholars debate the truth; one fact remains: the undead rarely notice them. So long as a Gnome remains more than five feet away, skeletons, undead, and other cursed things seem blind to their presence. It is not invisibilityâbut a curious overlooking, as if the Gnomeâs soul doesnât shine brightly enough to be seen by the dead.
Gnomes are often intelligent and curious. While they may lack the ambition to adventure or fight due to their small size or fear of falling in the wilderness, their creativity gives them a strong ability to craft and otherwise invent strange, yet convenient, machines. Like most of the races, their personalities vary from gnome to gnome, but they seem to overcome obstacles with whimsy and wit.Â
One defining characteristic of Gnomes is that they are said to be born with only half a soul. As a result, most undead creatures instinctively ignore them, as if Gnomes donât exist. This oddity has shaped their entire culture into one of wary cleverness with this hidden strength, finding its way to benefit the more adventurous of Hoblen.
