Fishermen’s rumor tells of a beast seldom seen found in the dark reaches of waterways. It knows the name Great Murlomp and, based on witness accounts, is classified as a Lizard Sorkogan. Testimony tells of smooth, glistening skin and track marks near gulleys, which are argued to come from them dragging themselves along. Such would make moving on land an arduous process, reclining the beast to the shadowy depths. Notably in support of this are the trackways themselves, with taperings at the back that appear to show a paddle-like tail.
The rural folk tell of cattle and men disappearing without a trace, with naught to even record such losses. These events are often attributed to the Great Murlomp, who is said to possess a three-hinged mouth that opens wide like an iron maiden to swallow its prey whole. Some who attest to escaping the beast report that the burns they sustained came from the creature’s acidic insides; however, these claims have yet to be substantiated.
Though many accounts of their existence are known, none have yet to supply anything greater than marks in the mud. Children report seeing hidden eyes that rise above the water whilst the body beneath remains concealed, which some have argued is evidence that the creature can camouflage itself. Each time these eyes are seen, a great splashing comes after; they say before a man or beast disappears into nothing. To the frustration of Monstrologists, if this creature does exist, it is exceptional at remaining uncaught.

The Great Murlomp is said to be a voracious carnivore that takes its meals from the shoreline or the nets of fishermen. With great leaps, it erupts forth and envelops its victim before skulkishly snaking back below the water. Sometimes vessels inexplicably sink after listing out of harbor, and they are often blamed for it. Still without credible findings, much of who they are-should they even be real-remains a mystery…
Efforts to capture the beast have been sponsored by the City of Larova for many years now: when rumors began and fishermen disappeared, the public demanded the beast be caught. Since then, House Dasmant has been repeatedly humiliated with each effort to find the creature ending in failure. Without peace of mind, members of their family have been driven mad in the pursuit of a beast that might not even exist.
